On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, the European project Steps leads a campaign in the partner countries of the project which promotes the right of children to a non-violent upbringing and gives advice to realize it.
Many parents have already entitled themselves to a renunciation of the use of force in the home as an educational ideal. In practical terms, however, too many children are still physically and mentally exposed to different kinds of violence. Especially children with special needs are victims of domestic violence.
In Europe, efforts to widespread a non-violent upbringing must therefore not slacken. The campaign points to positive examples of European countries and offers suggestions for parents to question their own parenting behavior and to change patterns of behavior.
